Today we are talking about another example that can make our world a better place.

Destiny Watford, is a 21-year environmental activist who created Free Your Voice, the movement that has stopped a incinerator in Baltimore, USA.

Curtis Bay is one of the most polluted areas in the state of Maryland. Too many friends and family of Destiny were faced with the complications of asthma due to toxic air.

So Destiny started the campaign “Clean Air is a Human Right” and mobilized its classmates to stop building this giant incinerator in their neighborhood. The project would produce high levels of lead and mercury each year.

Destiny has co-founded Free Your Voice, an organization created with other students dedicated to the struggle for social justice.

Destiny and Free Your Voice have educated their residents about the negative effects of the project. After 4 years of demonstrations and battles, the Maryland Department of Environment has revoked permits and stopped the construction.

The victory has given him the prestigious Goldman Enviromental Prize, the Nobel Prize for the Environment, awarded annually to six people who have distinguished themselves for their commitment to the defense of the Planet.
